As part of investigating a range of options on the site, we created a design for a 5 storey apartment building on an infill block on Vincent Street in Leederville. The design aesthetic picks up cues from the surrounding character of Leederville, including painted face brick, galvanized metal balustrading, and laser cut screens featuring graffiti graphics. The front windows are shaded with stylized hoods, and the top of the building is crowned with a contemporary version of the mansard roof. All of these elements give the building a distinctive character that is closely tied to the surrounding content. The efficient floor plan has one 2-bedroom apartment facing the street and two 1-bedroom apartments facing the rear of the property, with a lightwell ‘notch’ in between the allow for bedroom windows. Parking is handled at grade behind the building, accessed from a rear laneway. The ground floor features a small commercial tenancy and an entry lobby.
