We assisted the client in subdividing their large corner block into three lots and designing a custom-designed passive solar home on the rear block. The resulting house design is focused on a linear pool in the back garden, with the dining room and family room having direct visual access. A blade wall separating the lounge and dining areas features a two-way gas fireplace, adding ambience to both rooms. The garage is tucked off the laneway to improve the street façade of the home. The design takes advantage of good solar orientation and cross-ventilation to achieve a remarkable 9 stars (out of 10) in thermal-efficiency under NatHERS. The home features an upstairs and downstairs master-bedroom including ensuite, and two additional bedrooms and a main bathroom upstairs. A lift was included to ensure easy access to upstairs as the client ages. External finishes include render and feature stone cladding.
