We were engaged by Foundation Housing to provide conceptual design services and cost estimates for the renovation of an existing 15 dwelling apartment building for low-income residents. The project was originally built in the 1970´s and badly needed a new interior and exterior fitout. The proposed design retains the essential structure of the project but adds colourful architectural elements to the exterior in the form of shading louvers, balustrading, and a large entry blade. Complementary tones of monochromatic render cover up the old brown facebrick, giving the building a fresh new appearance. As part of the renovations, a new roof was required. On the interior, new vinyl flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, and minor plan changes were proposed.
